Quick card reader set-up

Your Air card reader will be automatically detected if you select "Card reader" as the payment method when making a sale. However, you can also manually connect.

  1. Turn your Air card reader on with the button on the right hand side.

  2. On the SumUp app, tap on the profile icon in the top corner of the screen.

  3. Select "Card reader" and ensure the "Accept payments with card reader" toggle is enabled.

  4. Tap "Connect card reader".

  5. Check the 3 digit number on the app matches the serial number on the back of your reader. Confirm by tapping "Connect".

  6. The Air’s LEDs will flash to confirm connection and sync with your mobile device. The Air will go into standby when inactive but will remain connected.

Additional set-up

Provide printed receipts after transactions or reprint receipts from past sales by connecting to a printer and choosing your preferred settings.

Simplify cash payments with SumUp by setting up a cash drawer to use. Be aware, you need to be connected to the app or POS Lite for this to work.

  • If you need several card readers, you can just log in to your SumUp profile and use them as you usually would - nothing changes.

  • If you have several employees using your SumUp profile, you can create team members and assign unique login credentials to each of them that can be used to log in to the same SumUp profile.
