This feature is available in the SumUp app (Android and iOS tablets only) and POS Lite.

Enable the Cash Management 

  1. Tap the profile icon.

  2. Select "Cash payments".

  3. Enable the "Accept cash payments" toggle to activate the cash payments option at checkout.

  4. Enable the “Manage cash” toggle and go back to the main screen. 

Manage cash drawer sessions via the cash icon

The cash icon allows you to open a cash drawer session, view your available cash, perform manual deposits or withdrawals, and close the session when needed.

Start tracking your cash movements

To start a virtual cash drawer session, you have two options:

  • Click on “Record cash” and follow the instructions.

  • Click on the Cash icon in the navigation bar, then “Open cash drawer” and follow the instructions.

When should I open the cash drawer?

We recommend opening the cash drawer at your business hours opening to ensure financial accuracy and accountability.

Record manual deposits and withdrawals of cash 

  1. Click on the cash icon in the navigation bar.

  2. Click on “Put cash in” or “Take cash out”.

  3. Input the amount of cash.

  4. Select the reason for the change.

  5. Optionally, add some more information in the comment fields.

  6. Confirm. The manual adjustment will be accounted for in your total available cash balance and visible in your report.

Close the virtual cash drawer session 

  1. Click on the cash icon. 

  2. Click on “Close drawer” on the bottom of the page. 

  3. Count the amount of cash you have on hand.

  4. Enter the amount of cash you have on hand, and the difference with the expected cash is automatically counted. 

  5. Close the virtual cash drawer session.  

Download the cash management report

The cash management report contains all the deposits, withdrawals, and discrepancies of your cash of each cash drawer session. In the report details you can find the reasons for manual adjustments and associated comments, the overall expected cash balance as well as details of all the cash transactions. 

  1. Log in to your account.

  2. Click on the home icon.

  3. Click on “All reports” 

  4. Click on “Cash report” and select a period.

  5. Download the report.

If you want to use a physical cash drawer

This feature does not require a physical cash drawer. However, if you'd like to use one, you can connect a cash drawer to the POS system.
