Protect sensitive information against phishing
If you're unsure of the source of an email, it's vital not to open unrecognised links within. Phishing attacks may try to direct you to a fake website or attachment that will attempt to steal your information.
Scammers may try to get you to open an attachment. Once it downloads, the attachment can instantaneously download and share your information. Never open attachments without first knowing they are from a legitimate source.
If you have doubts about an email or attachment, contact the sender for more information. Keep in mind that banks will never send you emails with attachments.
SumUp will never request personal information such as your login details, social security number, bank account details, or card information via email, text message or over the phone.
This information is for your eyes only, do not share it with anyone.
Use different passwords for different profiles, accounts, and platforms. That way if one password is compromised, your other accounts will remain secure.
Install reliable antivirus software and keep it up to date for better protection if you accidentally open a malicious link or attachment.
It’s also important to know what a scam email looks like so you can recognise phishing attacks.
Immediately change your passwords and report the issue to security@sumup.com with the subject: "Phishing attack".
